Training

Training

We understand that the training of partners and staff is an important and ongoing function of accounting practices.  We offer targeted training at the right level to meet individual requirements.

We provide:

- Tax Training Seminars

- In-House Training

In house training has proven to be a very popular method of keeping staff up to date with tax issues in a relaxed and familiar environment where they can feel free to ask questions and discuss client issues.  It is an economic method of providing internal tax training programmes for accounting staff. We also offer the option of allowing smaller firms to join together to share costs if required.  We can design a training package to suit you or you may want to choose from the topics we have available.

In house training topics currently available are:

  • PIE/FIF refresher
  • Limited Partnerships &  general partnership tax rules
  • Land transactions including tainting (this is work in progress due to associated person changes)
  • R&M Overview/refresher
  • QC/LAQC refresher
  • Tax residency and DTA’s
  • GST and property (time of supply, conditional v. Unconditional, deferred settlements etc)
  • Interest deductibility (including pre and post business, making private borrowing tax deductible)
  • Pre-business costs, feasibility, black hole expenditure
  • Financial arrangements
  • Income attribution for personal services
  • Tax updates, FAQs (these are a range of miscellaneous  topics from issues coming across our desk etc)

These are usually 1.5 to 2.0 hours in duration.

"Julie and Carl have provided tax update training seminars as well as presentations on legislation changes. Their presentation style is clear, relaxed and informal which encourages the participants to ask questions to further their learning. They provide concise handouts which are often referred back to by participants at a later date.  Our firm is currently discussing with Brandt Segedin the topic of our next in house seminar.

Brandt Segedin is our preferred provider of independent tax advice and we have no hesitation in recommending them to other Accountancy firms".
