Julie Segedin


Julie SegedinJulie is a principal in Brandt Segedin providing specialist tax advice mainly to accountants for the benefit of their clients. Her experience spans 29 years in the tax arena. Prior to starting Brandt Segedin with Carl in late 2008 Julie was a Tax Director with PricewaterhouseCoopers Hamilton office and prior to that she was a Tax Manager with Beattie Rickman for 14 years. In these roles Julie provided taxation advice to the firm's clients, other accountants and corporate tax clients covering a broad spectrum of tax issues. As a result Julie has particular expertise providing practical and innovative solutions for tax issues, in particular those facing small family businesses.

Julie completed her accounting qualification in 1981 while she was a bursar with the Inland Revenue Department. From 1981 to 1994, Julie was employed by the Inland Revenue Department in their investigation unit, for the last seven years as a senior investigator that included investigations into the tax affairs of medium sized businesses through to multinational corporations and SOEs.

This experience enables Julie to provide valuable assistance with tax audits and disputes. Julie still maintains contact with some of her former colleagues at Inland Revenue which has proven to be beneficial in resolving issues.

Julie has presented a number of taxation courses for the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants, both nationally and at branch level. She has also lectured at Waikato University.

Julie spends her free time gardening, going to the gym and socialising with family and friends.
